Since winter is nearing an end, or maybe it seems like it is going to last forever where you live, you may start noticing some problems with your maple trees. Maple trees are susceptible to a few problems that occur in winter and into the spring months, usually salt damage and trunk splits. Both of these problems are fixable, with a few exceptions (a large split in the crown, for example).
Check out the article I wrote on HubPages about maple tree problems, for some solutions you can use this year. Be sure to check out the comment section after the article, as your question may already be answered!
